VTB CEO says cbank can cut key rate to 6% by end of 2019

SOCHI, Oct 23 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank can reduce the key rate to 6% until the end of 2019, CEO of the country’s second biggest lender VTB Andrei Kostin said on the sidelines of the Russia–Africa forum on Wednesday.

“I think we can expect reduction of the key rate. I know that Sberbank forecasts 6% until the end of the year. I think this is quite realistic because inflation is falling so strongly, there is a risk it will fall so low that perhaps, the central bank will try to increase money supply, including by setting lower rates,” Kostin said.
